Heavy rain has forced the cancellation of today's practice and qualifying for both the Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT which leaves John McGuinness in a problem area as he hasn't yet completed a lap on his Paton 500.

Shortly after 5.00pm, with many bikes still waiting to clear scrutineering, it was announced to the paddock area the session would not go ahead.

Intermittent showers throughout the afternoon had caused concern and, with the Meteorological Office predicting 'further outbreaks of rain, which may turn heavy at times and with occasional hill mist' it was decided the conditions were too unfavourable.

Shortly after the announcement was made, and with machines still being wheeled back to the awnings, a further heavy shower soaked the grandstand area.
