Voltcom Suzuki’s Eugene Laverty used the final 15 minutes of World Superbike testing at Phillip Island to tweak the rear setup of his GSX-R1000 and came away with the quickest time of the final session.
The Irishman set a 1'30.879 in blistering conditions and he feels he has made a significant step as race two Down Under could be run in similar temperatures of 42°C on the track and 22°C in the air.
“Good day today, good test in all. We’ve been trying a lot of things and probably the biggest step we made was right at the end. In the last fifteen minutes we made a big improvement with the rear settings so I’m really happy to finish the test on a high and to make good lap-times in the high temperatures,” said Lavrrty.
“We have some detailed stuff to try over the race weekend but in general I’m very happy to be riding the Suzuki and we’ll keep pushing hard to improve further.”
