James romps clear

James Cowton got his season off to a flying start with a brace of start to finish victories in the Junior 600cc events on the own Honda, the first by almost a sixteen second advantage.

Tom Robinson and Dave Hewson chased hard but could not match the pace set by the 22year-old Joiner from Kilham. Rookie, Simon Brown was impressive competing in his first ever race meeting with a seventh in the first and a third in the much depleted second race held in wet conditions.

In between times Cowton (Ken Dobson Kawasaki ER6) and Ivan Lintin (Taylor Lindsey Kawasaki ER6) took a win apiece in the Super Lightweight class with a good effort from Matthew Truelove notching up a second and third.

Ivan Lintin piloted the Taylor Lindsey Honda Fireblade to a very impressive victory in the first senior event crossing the finish line after eight laps almost twenty seconds ahead of James Cowton, who was out out for the first time on Steve Parkin’s SJP Moto Honda Fireblade looked comfortable and equally as impressive on ex Bathams machine.Mick Goodings was a further eleven seconds back in third.

Jamie Mason was the only rider to come to the grid for the second senior race (the last race of the day), he did one lap and was awarded top points for doing so – perhaps there is a lesson to be learnt here guys!

Stylish, Lintin was in total command in the Count of Cadwell race, Mick Gooding was second and his brother Mark third. Cowton stalled the unfamiliar Fireblade on the grid and the pack were long gone before he left the line, but he rode a blinder to finish sixth at the chequered flag.

Rangeley splashes clear

Matthew Rangeley, 14, proved himself a force to reckoned with aboard an Aprilia 450 in the Lightweight class, especially in the second outing taking overall victory in the joint race with the Libre class. Earlier he had run strongly in second

Lindley storms back

Dean Lindley/Craig Fitzpatrick took advantage of their pole position and charged off up Coppice chased closely by Carl Fenwick/Paul Knapton the duos crossed the line together at the start of the second lap – the race was on – then sadly the following lap Lindley retired to the paddock handing second place to John and Jake Lowther with Greg Lambert/Kenny Cole and Lee Crawford/Stuart Ramsey in hot pursuit.

Wheel arch problems forced the Lowther’s out on lap six, while Fenwick went on to take victory by almost twenty-one seconds, Lambert held on to second and Crawford third. Lindley stormed back to win the second race from Crawford with Steve and Matthew Ramsden third.
