Ducati’s Davide Giugliano has topped the opening day’s Jerez World Superbike test timesheets with a laptime only four-tenths slower than Eugene Laverty’s pole time from last season.
The Roman went round in a 1’41.056 to be a little less than half a second clear of team-mate Chaz Davies. The Welshman was a further tenth up on reigning champion Tom Sykes with Jonathan Rea in fourth and points leader Sylvain Guintoli in fifth three-quarters of a second off the pace.
