GSX-R still ‘a work in progress’ for Laverty

Voltcom Suzuki’s Eugene Laverty has ambitions to again stand on top of the World Superbike podium at Motorland Aragon this weekend and a good test at Jerez will help but he also knows his GSX-R1000 is a work in progress.

The Irishman has tested new electronics and an FTR swingarm ahead of this weekend’s second round but a a different engine spec still has to undergo evaluation and another test at Imola before it is let loose.

"We enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, but we'll need to continue our form to stay at the sharp end of the title fight. Phillip Island has always been kind to the GSX-R, but the real test will come at Aragon,” said Laverty.

“My aim is to stand on the rostrum on Sunday, and if we can do that, then it will be a job well done. We've been improving the bike over the past few months but it's still a work in progress. Rome was not built in a day.”
