Twenty-time Isle of Man TT winner John McGuinness has said he believes that a 132mph lap is on the cards during the 2014 festival but that there will be a whole host of riders who will be capable of doing it.
Speaking at this evening’s official TT launch, McGuinness said that his 131.6mph lap at the end of the 2013 Superbike TT was after having to negotiate slower riders and add into that parts of the 37.75-mile circuit have been resurfaced.
“It is possible for sure. I did 131.6mph on the last lap of the Superbike race and I did get held up quite a few times by other riders on track. I was in the Joey Dunlop colours and I needed to do something as I was asleep at the start, off to the shops when the other boys came past,” said McGuinness.
“I think 132mph is on the cards but I think it won’t be just me doing or Michael, Gary will be doing it, James will, I think William will be and Hutchy.”
