Assen WSBK: Marino out-paces Van Der Mark to lead second Supersport practice

Kawasaki Intermoto’s Florian Marino had a strong performance in the second World Supersport free practice session at Assen this afternoon, after his best lap of 1’38.903 narrowly placed him top of the timesheets.

The fastest rider in this morning’s session – Pata Honda’s Michael Van Der Mark could not better his quickest time of 1’38.989, so slipped back to second in the standings, followed by Yakhnich’s Jules Cluzel.

Mahi Racing’s Kenan Sofuoglu could not push his bike into the 1’38 bracket, and failed to make it inside the top three quickest combined times after his 1'39.149 lap. DMC Pavato-Yamaha’s Kev Coghlan improved by nearly a second from this morning’s session, and lapped a 1’39.514, and rounded off the top five, followed by American  PJ Jacobsen, who couldn’t quite match the pace of his team-mate, going nearly a second slower than Marino.

CIA Insurance Honda’s Jack Kennedy safely made inside the top ten and like Coghlan improved on his time from the earlier outing – but by only one-four thousandths of a second with a 1’39.845, with team Lorini’s Bussolotti’s completing the top ten. Com Plus SMS Racing’s Fraser Rogers finished the session in 24th on the timing screens after a 1'44.869.
