Ducati’s Chaz Davies did not have an ‘easy’ World Superbike weekend at Assen after chatter issues at the front of his bike blighted his whole race weekend.
The Welshman lost some traction in race one, but things did improve for race two and he felt more confident with the feel of the bike. It was the first time this weekend that Davies has raced in the wet with his new team, and feels it will take a bit of time for him to understand where to find the limit of the Ducati.
Davies did manage to clinch two finishes well inside the top ten in seventh and eighth in yesterday’s double header - leaving him seventh with 47 points in the overall championship standings.
“It’s not been an easy weekend, we had a few chattering issues at the front of the bike throughout the entire weekend. In race one we used the soft tyre, which behaved well despite the low temperatures but by the final stages I’d lost some traction,” said Davies.
“Rain then conditioned race two, though it didn’t feel too bad, it was more a case of confidence. It’s the first race I’ve completed with this bike in the wet and I need more time to understand the limit.”
