DMC Yamaha’s Kev Coghlan had to fight his way through the pack in Sunday’s Assen World Supersport race after a poor start and a clutch problem on lap one made his early laps difficult.
The Scotsman, who ended up in fourth after a scrap with Lorenzo Zanetti, said he was happy to take the points at a track on which he expected to struggle and is still third in the championship chase.
"I got a terrible start and had to work hard in the beginning to get closer to the front. With a few laps to go I had some problems going into the turns - something strange with the clutch. After one lap with it, it was ok, I just I lost a lot of time. Finally on the last lap I could get back past Lorenzo Zanetti for fourth place,” said Coghlan.
“I was a bit disappointed, I was expecting to be a little stronger in the race but finally with other things happening we ended up fourth and some more good points for the championship. This was a track that I expected to struggle on so all in all not bad.”
