Andrews’ RAF Reserves Honda squad to continue with TT plans

Simon Andrews’ RAF Reserves Honda squad have decided to continue on with their plans for this year’s Isle of Man TT as team boss Lee Hardy believes it is what the Evesham rider would have wanted,

Simon passed away on Monday following injuries sustained in a crash at the North West 200 and Hardy says he believes Simon would want his squad to carry on.

“The RAF Reserves Honda team are so saddened by the loss of Simon Andrews, a genuine guy with a heart of a lion. This boy was just incredible, so appreciative for what we have done with him as a team,” said Hardy.

“He was a rider that would always give you 110 per cent every lap and not once did he moan about anything, he just loved being on the track competing.

“As team manager, I feel we need to announce that we will still be attending the Isle of Man TT with Conor Cummins and Michael Russell as originally planned. I don’t want people to think we have moved on or forgotten what has happened over the last few days, but I know that Simon would want us to keep competing.

“Simon’s BSB bike will be on display within the RAF Reserves pit box at Snetterton however it will not compete and further thoughts will need to be given as to where and how we go forward from here.

“Our deepest condolences are with his father Stuart, mother Dee and sister Claire at this time. Thank you Simon for the opportunities you gave me and what you have taught me over our time together, you will never be forgotten.”
