Anvil Hire Tag Racing’s Sam Hornsey finished his wild-card ride at the World Supersport round at Donington Park just outside the points in 16th place, but the young British rider enjoyed his time on the world stage.
The weekend provided some helpful data to move on to the next Motorpoint British Supersport round at Snetterton.
Hornsey was able to hold his own at a track he knows well, and was even as high as tenth overall during some of the sessions over the course of the race weekend at the Leicestershire circuit. The Shropshire rider is pleased with his performance and is feeling confident for the British season ahead.
“Basically we did it to kick start our BSB season and to do more testing. The experience was brilliant too - to go on the world stage. It is a higher calibre and the riders are aggressive but the racing part is the same. The riders know how to fight, I got a bit beaten up at the start, but that is just lack of experience," said Hornsey, speaking to bikesportnews.com, at the circut.
“This has helped for British Supersport and we have tested somethings on the setup, and the plan was to come here and use the experience ahead of Snetterton. We have had a flat spot all year and now we have found it and now we can make that extra step.
"We were struggling with the suspension, and now we have that sorted and we will use the slip clutch now like I did here in Donington for the rest of the British Superbike rounds, as I found that it helped.”
