Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi had to settle for sixth place in MotoGP qualifying at the Sachsenring today, saying there was 'something wrong' with the tyre he used for his second run and he had no rear grip, struggling to get it back to pitlane.
The Doctor managed to secure a second-row start for tomorrow’s race and he says that is the limit for a good performance but he is aware the all-Honda front row is going to be tough to contend with.
“Fortunately, I did a good lap with the first tyre and with the second tyre you can usually go faster, two or three tenths, but the second tyre have something wrong, doesn’t have any grip and was also very difficult to bring the bike to the box, so I have something wrong and I cannot push,” said Rossi, speaking at the track.
“I am in the second row, and the second row is the limit for a good race. Also the pace, we work well on the bike but for tomorrow it will be hard as the factory Hondas and also Bradl are very fast so we have to improve.”
