Pramac Ducati’s Andrea Iannone took advantage of an early dry track to set the fastest time in today’s second MotoGP free practice session at Brno before the heavens opened, soaking the Czech Republic track.
Iannone’s 2’03.179 was set on his second lap of the session and he had Avintia Kawasaki’s Hector Barbera in second place but a full 1.3s behind.
Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez was the fastest of the riders in full wet conditions on a 2’07.846 but he had only a 0.002s advantage over team-mate Dani Pedrosa with Valetino Rossi next along on a 2’08.827.
Cal Crutchlow was sixth with Jorge Lorenzo seventh and Pol Espargaro eighth. Bradley Smith and Stefan Bradl rounded out the top ten with Scott Redding 11th.
Michael Laverty set the 20th quickest time but a wet session was the last thing that Leon Camier needed. He is still adapting to the production Honda and needs as much dry track time as possible.
Rain is also forecast for tomorrow morning at Brno, so the times from this morning could set the agenda for qualifying tomorrow, which would mean Redding and Crutchlow would have to go through qualifying two for a place in the final timed session.
