Ian Lougher took his second win of the 2014 Classic TT festival when he saw off the challenge of Chris Moore in the Motorsport Merchandise Formula 2 race, held alongside the F1 race.
The Welshman, riding a TZ250 Yamaha for Brian Scott Racing led at the end of the opening lap after initial pace setter Roy Richardson was black flagged at Parliament Square with Moore and Stuart Garton in second and third.
With different pit stop strategies, Moore took over the lead on the second lap as Lougher pitted at the end of the first lap but the wily veteran had everything under control and by Glen Helen on the third lap, the winner of Saturday’s 500cc Classic TT race was back ahead by the tune of 22 seconds.
He was able to extend his lead throughout the final 37 and ¾ miles and, with the fastest lap of the race, 111.064mph, he took the chequered flag from Moore by over 53 seconds. Garton was 9.9s adrift in third with Tom Snow, Phil McGurk and David Hewson completing the top six.
Are you going to let him get away with this, Jason Griffiths?
