Jonathan Rea has been linked with a shock switch to Kawasaki in World Superbikes in 2015 if his much-awaited transfer to the MotoGP paddock doesn’t come off.
Although nothing has been confirmed, it is believed the Ulsterman has been in talks with Kawasaki for some time and is set to partner Tom Sykes if a deal with the Aspar MotoGP team doesn’t materialise in the next fortnight.
Rea is in a queue of riders, which also includes Eugene Laverty and Leon Camier, outside the Jorge Martinez team but until the Scott Redding situation is sorted out, it will remain unclear who will get the nod.
The Isle of Man resident also has an option to remain with the Pata Honda team in WSBK for another season.
