Jerez WSBK: Van Der Mark remains top of Supersport practice sheets

Pata Honda’s Michael Van Der Mark remains at the top of the World Supersport free practice timesheets after no other rider was able to go quicker than his 1’44.344 time that he set in FP1 earlier this morning in Jerez.

The temperature was certainly rising at the track, and none of the riders inside the top seven were able to better their times that they lapped a few hours earlier. San Carlo’s Kenan Sofuoglu tried in vain to out-pace the Dutchman but he also couldn’t improve on his best time of a 1’44.871. But Van Der Mark is still two tenths off the lap record, which was set by Sam Lowes last year.

DMC Panavto-Yamaha’s Kev Coghlan happily sits third fastest, and his 1’44.885 rotation was still good enough to hold off Intermoto’s Florian Marino and Pata Honda’s Lorenzo Zanetti.

Former MCE British Superbike contender, PJ Jacobsen was never far off the pace of the leading riders, but edged ahead of CIA Insurance Honda’s Jack Kennedy to stay in sixth, with the Dubliner remaining in seventh, after a 1’45.415.
