Sam Lowes looks like he could be heading for a split with his Speed Up Moto2 team before the season end as he believes they don’t listen to his input and the results which he is capable of aren’t coming.
The Derby-based rider was World Supersport Champion last year and has a two year deal with the squad but after repeated requests for change, including swapping from a carbon swingarm to an alumunium version, seem to fall on deaf ears.
“I don’t want to be too critical of anyone but there are a few little things going on. I came off a great year last year and I am the first one to understand the difference between World Supersport and Moto2, I know it’s a tough class, but when the team don’t take anything you say on board, it makes it difficult,” said Lowes, speaking at Misano.
“We always seem to take the wrong direction. I said to them they may as well not have me in the debrief as no-one listens. I am not saying that to sound bad, I don’t want it sound bad. We have had some good races but we’re way too inconsistent and that’s not just on my part.
“I have a contract to stay here for next year but I’m not going to if it stays like this. It’s simple. I’m not speaking out of turn here, it’s not good for me or the team to carry on in this way. We have been talking and we will see what happens. I want the team to do great because I want to be at the front.
“If together is not the right way to go then we should both be clever enough to think that. I want to stay here and I want to succeed but for me it’s about results and I’m not happy finishing where I am so we have to change something.”
