Leon Camier’s hopes for a more competitive year in World Superbikes more than likely won’t come to fruition as his MV Agusta won’t be a whole lot different at the start of 2016 than it ended 2015.
And on top of that, the field now has more quick riders on fast bikes against which Camier’s overweight and underpowered F4 won’t be able to compete even though some improvements have been made.
“This year is going to be harder than last year. The reason being there are more fast bikes in the championship. BMWs, Aprilias, Yamahas, and a few more good riders. I think we have got a lot of work to do to finish in the top ten on a good track this year, it’s going to be more like the top 12,” said Camier, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
“Well, the electronics may make us more consistent in terms of laptimes over a race distance. Last year I started slowly and got stronger towards the end. This year, I am hoping to start stronger and keep it up, finish somewhere similar. That is down to the tank but it won’t make us much faster.
“It’s not what I was hoping for. I was hoping to come into this season with a package that would see us consistently in the top ten and looking at top six on a good weekend. Realistically, this is not the situation. We have new guys in the team, a new technical boss and I think with the time and resources they have done a good job.”
