Pata Yamaha’s Alex Lowes is aiming to repeat his 2015 podium success at the Thailand World Supebrike round this weekend as he says the Buriram circuit suits his aggressive riding style.
Lowes took third in race one last year behind close friend Leon Haslam and believes that with the new R1 underneath him, he can get on the box for the first time this year.
“In the first race last year, everything was going well, we should have finished on the podium but I made a small mistake, crashed at the last corner, got back on and finished in sixth place. It wasn’t an ideal finished but it gave me confidence as my pace was really strong. Seeing the podium but not getting on it was really disappointing,” said Lowes.
“The track holds some good memories for me and I am looking forward to going back there. The first part of the place is quite fast then the second is difficult. It suits my style as I am quite an aggressive rider. The hardest part is the temperature, it’s quite hot. The goal this year is to arrive on the podium as often as possible, I did it at Buriram last year.”
