Thailand WSBK: Cluzel victorious in hard-fought Superpole

Jules Cluzel will start the World Supersport race at Thailand in pole position after the Frenchman won the superpole session at the Chang International Circuit.

Cluzel was able to hold off the challenge of the impressive Randy Krummenacher - who won last time out in Phillip Island - and his Kawasaki Puccetti team-mate Kenan Sofuoglu.

Krummenacher gave it his all to try and depose Cluzel but the young Swiss upstart was unable to knock him off his perch, despite getting as close as just 0.094s off the MV Agusta rider’s time.

In a mostly successful session for the Brits, Kyle Smith will start his CIA Landlords Honda up in sixth place on the second row for tomorrow’s race, alongside PJ Jacobsen and Alex Baldolini. Smith’s countrymen Gino Rea and Luke Stapleford finished the session ninth and tenth, respectively.

Kyle Ryde and Stefan Hill were sadly unable to make it through from Superpole one following a volatile session, which even saw Lorenzo Zanetti languishing as the Italian also failed to make it through meaning he will start the race in 16th place.

Ryde could only muster 19th place on the timesheets following his ejection after the first Superpole session, while Hill was way down in 24th on the CIA Landlords Honda.
