Alastair Seeley made it two pole positions from two on Thursday when his mid-session lap of 116.950mph on the Gearlink Kawasaki saw him take the top spot in the Supersport class at the North West 200.
Seeley took full advantage of perfect conditions to go almost two seconds clear at the top of the leaderboard as Martin Jessopp and Lee Johnston battled for the remaining front row positions. A late lap of 116.543mph by Jessopp on the Riders Motorcycles Triumph saw him leapfrog Johnston to take second and also close the gap to Seeley to one second.
William Dunlop occupied fourth place throughout on his all-new R6 Yamaha even though it broke down at Station Corner while John McGuinness jumped up to fifth from 11th in the dying moments on his Jackson Racing Honda, the Morecambe man having his first track action of the day having opted out of the Superstock class.
Having languished at the bottom of the leaderboard for the first few minutes, Peter Hickman got into his stride on the Trooper Beer Kawasaki to claim sixth place which, in turn, bumped Michael Rutter off the second row, the Bathams SMT Racing rider showing strong form on the Kawasaki.
Dean Harrison took eighth ahead of James Hillier, Jeremy McWilliams and Bruce Anstey but it was a disaster for Ian Hutchinson who failed to complete a lap on the CAME BPT Yamaha. He dropped from second to 12th overall as a result whilst Michael Dunlop also had a session to forget ending up 16th.
