TT 2017: William Dunlop takes charge in Supersport

William Dunlop has taken charge of the Supersport timesheet in today’s final TT 2017 practice ahead of Monday’s opening race - weather permitting - but he is being chased hard by Dean Harrison.

Dunlop, whose Yamaha R6 sports a Markus Eschenbacher-tuned motor, set a 125.297mph flying lap but Harrison’s Silicone Kawasaki was not too far behind, putting in a 125.188mph - a difference of less than a second over 37.73 miles.

Acknowledged Supersport king Ian Hutchinson, who is still developing the 2017 McAMS R6, ended in third place on a 124.5651 after four laps with James Hillier fourth on a 124.425 and Peter Hickman fifth with a 124.103.

Lee Johnston is still in sixth place on the timesheet but a crash at Greeba in this morning’d has put him out of action today. He is recovering in Nobles Hospital and is ‘a little sore’.

Gary Johnson put his privateer Triumph in seventh place with a 123.336 with James Cowton next along. Conor Cummins is ninth on a 121.843 with Sam West tenth. Josh Brookes’ final lap of 121.537 put him in 11th, one ahead of Dan Kneen in 12th. Horst Saiger, Guy Martin and Craig Neve complete the top 15.
