Scotland's John McPhee is keen to bounce back from the last-corner crash that robbed him of a Moto3 podium at the Jerez MotoGP round last Sunday.

The Petronas Sprinta man had been in the victory hunt all weekend but a big sort out into the final corner saw McPhee go down with help from Tony Arbolino and Celestino Vietti.

McPhee looked set to bring home a good result at the Gran Premio de España, even though a poor start on the front of the grid comprised the opening laps of his race.

Despite this the McPhee battled through and a series of brave moves saw him leading the race in the closing minutes.  

"Obviously I’m very disappointed with the result from last weekend and with such a short season it’s a big punishment to not score points," said McPhee.

"We can’t dwell on it though and we have to focus on the next opportunity. The best thing about this situation is that I get to try again this weekend.

I have a lot of positive feedback and data from the race to work with. The main thing that I need to improve is the start.

"My rhythm was good, my speed was good, the feeling with the bike was good. The only problem was that I went backwards at the start. I want to manage that better this weekend and have a great race."

McPhee is still third in the championship chase even after a non-finish as those around struggled in the Spanish sun or didn't make up for their poor Qatar results, where McPhee was second.
