Three-time MCE British Superbike Champion Shane Byrne ended the third and final day of testing at Almeria at the top of the timesheets and is now ready for the first full UK test at Donington Park on Tuesday.
The Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki man dipped under the 1’36 barrier with a 1’35.747, just 1.7s off the fastest time Tom Sykes managed there in Janary, with team-mate Stuart Easton 0.878s behind him.
Quattro Kawasaki’s Dan Linfoot turned in his best lap of the three days and was less than a tenth slower than Easton in third place while Chris Walker was the quickest of the GBmoto Kawasaki men in fourth, 0.05s slower than the Yorkshire fondue stick.
James Ellison, on the second GBmoto ZX-10R, was in fifth and a tenth behind his team-mate with Howie Mainwaring Smart a further tenth in arrears. Martin Jessopp, who wrapped up his session at lunchtime, was 1.5s off the pace overall.
