Lloyds British Jentin Yamaha rider Simon Andrews has to squeeze a month’s rehabilitation into just seven days if he is to be fit for this weekend’s Qatar endurance round.
Andrews underwent surgery at the end of last week to fix his badly-damaged knee. The 24-year-old needs surgery on the ligaments to stop his tibia falling into the knee socket, and surgeons also found the back of Andrews’s kneecap was broken.
"It was in hospital at 8am and out by 3pm, so it was service with a smile," said Andrews. "It was in the gym training within 24 hours with Dan Gabb my personal trainer and Tace Allen my sports massage therapist.
"I alternated between the two every day, morning and night. I had been under intensive training after Brands to make the knee as strong as possible.
"I really must thank those two guys and Noel from the CJ Riders’ Fund as without him it wouldn’t have happened. I just need to get some strength in my leg now before I get on the Diablo666 bike this weekend."
