Tyco Suzuki’s John Hopkins had a strong MCE British Superbike qualifying outing at Assen today, but wants to turn his front row starts into race wins, and podiums. He is not in the Showdown, and can not fight for the BSB title, but he is still looking to battle it out with the championship contenders during the double-header.
Hopkins starts from second on the grid for the opening race on Sunday, but doesn’t want a repeat of what happened at Donington. The American rider started on pole during the last round, but failed to get on the podium in either races, but hopes to turn his luck around tomorrow – with a good start.
“I hope to take my strong pace to the race tomorrow. It has been a struggle this season but we are starting to come on strong now,” said Hopkins, speaking at the circuit.
“We are here at Assen and I really enjoy it, but I have had some of my best and worse memories here too, but the Tyco Suzuki was working well in both the wet and dry conditions. Now we have to turn this front row into race results, and fight it out with the title fighters.”
