Assen BSB: Jacobsen overjoyed with maiden Superbike podium

Tyco Suzuki’s PJ Jacobsen enjoyed his first MCE British Superbike podium in Sunday’s second race at Assen in the Netherlands, clinching a fine second place.

The American did originally finish the final race in third, but Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes received an exclusion penalty after a move on Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne and the twenty-year-old was elevated to second.

Race one was more of a challenge for the New Yorker. He started on eighteenth on the grid after a technical issue which meant he could not progress into Q3, but battled his way to seventh. Jacobsen was on the pace all weekend and goes in to the next round at Silverstone in good spirits.

“After a tough start to the weekend it’s great to get my first British Superbike podium with the Tyco Suzuki guys. That’s two years in a row that I’ve been on the podium here at Assen with Tyco Suzuki,” said Jacobsen.

“A big thanks to the whole team for the effort, as the weekend was not without its difficulties. We go to Silverstone, next which I also enjoying riding so I’m leaving the Netherlands in a good frame of mind. Thank to all the team for making dreams come true.”
