Mar-Train Yamaha’s Jack Kennedy laid down a firm marker in this afternoon’s Motorpoint British Supersport Free Practice sessions by bettering Dutch Supersport Champion’s Raymond Schouten’s best lap of 1’40.477 by just under a quarter of a second.
The Championship leader went quickest with his last lap of the session at the TT Circuit Assen, beating Seton Yamaha new boy Schouten. The Dubliner’s Championship rival Glen Richards was third quickest, just ahead of his team-mate Luke Mossey.
Tyco Suzuki’s PJ Jacobsen took little time adapting to the Supersport from the Superstock 1000 as he finished the session fifth fastest, just 0.355 of a second behind Kennedy’s fastest lap.
Richard Cooper ended up sixth, Glenn Irwin the quickest of the cup competitors in seventh and Taylor Mackenzie took full advantage of his superior track knowledge after Red Bull Rookies Cuand 125 World Championship visits to Assen, to end up eighth.
Finnish rider Pauli Pekkanen put his 777RR Triumph in ninth with fellow Triumph rider Christian Iddon rounding out the top ten.
