Oxford TAG Triumph’s Christian Iddon took his first Motorpoint British Supersport victory of the year in sensational fashion, after coming home at the front of a seven man battle for the lead.

Pole setter Luke Mossey took the holeshot but quickly came under pressure from fellow Triumph boys Christian Iddon and Richard Cooper. The trio began to swap places corner after corner in an enthralling battle for the lead.

Behind them Jack Kennedy began to move forwards from dead last on the grid. The Mar-Train Yamaha rider moved up 18 places to be 14th on the second lap and by the fifth he was on the back of his Championship rival Glen Richards in ninth.

As the leading trio beat themselves up, Ben Wilson in fourth began to close in but behind Wilson was the three fastest riders out on track; Raymond Schouten, Glen Richards and Jack Kennedy. With three laps to go it became seven all fighting for the win. Kennedy made his move first as the Irishman showed his aggression and spirit by going past both Glen Richards and Ben Wilson.

Wilson was quickly left struggling at the back of the group as Glen Richards came rushing past the Gearlink rider. The Championship leader then moved onto the podium as he went past Luke Mossey and then Richard Cooper at consecutive corners.

As they went on to the last lap Kennedy looked to push past Iddon but just couldn’t find the pace to get past the Triumph rider on the brakes into the last corner of the Geert Timmer Chicane. Richard Cooper got the better of the birthday boy Luke Mossey to take the last podium place.

Schouten took fifth ahead of Glen Richards, who is now 21 points behind Kennedy in the Championship, with Wilson coming home in seventh. Glenn Irwin took the cup victory and eighth place ahead of New Yorker PJ Jacobsen and Taylor Mackenzie.
