Housewives' favourite Chris Walker goes into this year’s MCE British Superbike series with what he believes is his best start in a long time courtesy of successful pre-season training.
The GBmoto Kawasaki man was at the sharp end in both Donington and Snetterton outings but knows that despite being comfortable on the ZX-10R, there is still a lot of work to do.
“This is what all the training and testing has been about and I can’t wait to finally get going! The Brands Hatch Indy circuit is a bit of a strange track, because of the length we end up doing a lot of laps over the four days so it's definitely a bit of an intense weekend. With over thirty riders on the grid, it’s going to be important to get a good qualifying position as there’s not many passing places around the Indy circuit,” said Walker.
“I’m coming into the opening round in the best position I’ve been in for years, I’ve got more testing under my belt than the last few years combined and I’m feeling real comfortable on the bike. That said, we’ve got to remember it is a new bike to the team and we still have plenty of work to do, so if we can walk away with a pair of strong finishes we’ll be able to keep chipping away to the leaders and hopefully be in the Showdown come Assen.”
