Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes had one aim and that was to win the MCE British Superbike championship, but that was out of reach for the Bringelly rider, and even after doing the triple, the first of his career, it was not enough to hide his ‘disappointment’.

Brookes ended the season finishing in third, behind eventual champion, Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes and second place finisher, Shane Byrne. But he is pleased that he ended his year on a high, before going back home to Australia for the next couple of months.

But the rider vows to be back in the series, but was a bit coy as to which team he could be joining, but he is adamant that he will be taking part in BSB and road racing next year. 

“I am a bit disappointed and I wished that I could enjoy the triple win a bit more, it is definitely disappointing not being in the number one place. I have got no regrets just sad to see the season come to an end and we haven’t achieved what we set out for again,” said Brookes, at the circuit.

“The first part of the year I was mostly happy and we were making progress and things seemed to be moving forward. But we dropped the ball a couple of rounds ago and that put us in a position that meant I was not able to challenge for the title in this round.

“But I want to finish the year on a high and it makes me feel positive about the coming year. Pole position and three wins is great. I would be more satisfied to win three races in the dry rather than in the wet, but I am quite happy with that.

“Next year I will be doing all the same again, BSB, roads and TT, the negotiations are in the final stages, but I will be here again.”
