HM Plant Honda's Josh Brookes has undergone successful surgery to patch up the thumb tendon he injured during the controversial crash at Mallory Park and is now back in training.
Brookes had the offending tendon screwed back into the bone and has been getting back into his training regime in order to be totally fit for his return to competition after a two-race ban.
"My hand feels better and the doctor says is should be as good as new in a couple of weeks. I just need to rest it and not do anything to strain it again," said the likeable Aussie, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.
"I've been doing some 90-kilometre cycling routes as I can't go running after my pelvis was broken when I was punted off a couple of years ago, so I have to do non-impact training.
"I'm looking forward to this weekend and giving the team as much support as I can."
