Brands BSB: Brookes ups the ante with more horsepower

Relentless Suzuki's Josh Brookes goes into this weekend's Brands Hatch British Superbike finale with two weapons: increased confidence after his Silverstone win and a motor with a few more horsepower for the Kent track's straights.

Brookes returned to being the rider who came second in last year's title chase at Silverstone with aggressive but safe overtakes and with enough confidence in the front-end to pass on the brakes from some distance back. He said after his win that 'I brought the old Josh Brookes back...' The Aussie also took a wet-weather win at Brands earlier in the year.

“It’s just a case of going there and doing the same thing I do every weekend. Preparation is the same even though it’s the last round, but we all know how important it is as it will affect the final standings in the championship," said Brookes.

"The boys have fine-tuned the bike a little to find some more horsepower and we can try that on Friday. We have good settings from the last time at Brands and coming from Silverstone I’m carrying some decent confidence as well. The weekend really kicks off on Saturday, which is going to be a big intense day and physically trying. Then on Sunday it’s the normal two races and we’ll be looking for more wins.”
