Brands BSB: Byrne vows to push harder

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne is preparing to fight hard for the MCE British Superbike race victories this weekend, and even though he was the quickest rider in the final free practice session of the day at his home circuit of Brands Hatch he vows to push even harder.

Byrne currently leads the championship by a single point but is still suffering from the affects of a hip injury that he sustained at Silverstone. The rider is still having treatment for the pain, and admits that it has definitely taken him out of his comfort zone.

“I aggravated my hip and groin during the free practice sessions and when it hurts it takes you out of your comfort zone. I am going to have some treatment this evening, but I am happy with today’s sessions,” said Byrne at the track.

"The damp track this morning did not cause any problems, as the wet patches were easy to avoid, and we have a good starting point because we have got some good data from when we were last here in August.

"I am happy with the position today, but I am looking to improve the bike and myself. At the moment I am in a protection zone, and I know I can push a lot harder."
