Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Dan Linfoot topped the MCE British Superbike Q2 timesheets during qualifying yesterday, but his fast pace failed to materialise during Q3, and he now starts race one from tenth on the grid.
Linfoot found it difficult to gain that extra speed going into corners – especially when the new tyres began to wear away. The Wetherby lad was not able to replicate his best lap of a 1’26.653 in the final qualifying outing, but the racer is still content with his pace and wants to keep ‘chipping away’ at the top riders in order to get ever closer to a podium finish.
“I didn’t expect to improve as much as I did in Q2 but I was happy with that as I managed to find some time,” said Linfoot, speaking to biksportnews.com at the circuit.
“Then I went into Q3 I did a couple of laps on a new tyre, and I am usually able to benefit from a newer tyre, but as soon as the edge has gone off the new tyre I cant seem to find the corner speed.
“But I did go faster in Q3, but not fast enough for pole. But I am happy that I can do lap times by myself. The confidence is building but I am not ready for podiums just yet - but and I am chipping away and edging closer and closer to the front.”
