WFR Honda's Graeme Gowland topped off a memorable weekend at the Brands Hatch British Superbike by moving into second place in the Evo class after a pole position and three race wins saw him close down team-mate Glen Richards in the overall standings.
Gowland amazed crowds by scrapping with the full Superbikes in Saturday's race one and then keeping his form together going into the two outings on Sunday which saw more out-of-skin riding from the Bishop Auckland man.
“It was good. We chose intermediates in race one, which I think most people did, apart from a few that went out on slicks which didn’t prove to be a bad option either. The first 10 laps were pretty good but after that I started sliding around a little bit but I kept my eye on my pit board and managed to bring it home I was looking for a podium in the BSB proper but I just listened to my team and consolidated the Evo position which I am really pleased with," said Gowland.
“I had Josh Brookes as my target in race two and I kept him in my sights and didn’t really let the gap widen too much from him and in the process we came through a group of top riders and a couple of WSB riders too so I’m really happy with the performance.
“Race three was a much harder race because Glen on the second WFR Evo bike was going quicker in this race and I was watching my pit board and could see it was really tight at the beginning but I managed to creep away about halfway through. I’m really happy. It’s been a perfect weekend for me and to have all three WFR riders on the podium is great for the team.”
