Brands BSB: ‘I am amazed to be on the front row’ – Walker

GBmoto’s Kawasaki’s Chris Walker didn’t imagine that he would be on the front row for the first MCE British Superbike race at Brands Hatch tomorrow. He was aiming for the second row, at best, so when he lapped a 1’26.189, he was one happy rider.

Walker had a little bit of help from his team-mate James Ellison, and the veteran was able to follow him around for a lap – which helped him to the second spot on the starting grid tomorrow. The fact that it’s a Kawasaki 1-2-3 has pleased Walker, and he’s hoping it stays dry for both main events on Sunday.

“It was great for us and the team, I am amazed to be on the front row. I thought the second row was possible - a 26.7 as my fastest ever lap here, but to knock off half a second off that time – is just great,” said Walker, at the track.

“I wouldn’t say that I struggled to do that lap time on my own, but I was glad that James was there in front of me, and to have a carrot out there for me for sure was a help. I just want it to be dry tomorrow, as I am on a good bike with a good team, and it is great to see a Kawasaki front row too.”
