Mar-Train Yamaha’s Jack Kennedy took Motorpoint British Supersport victory by 0.018 of a second in a six lap dash after a red flag. The Dubliner beat Championship rival Glen Richards in a race long battle.
Richards took the holeshot but it was short lived as Kennedy drove past the Smiths of Gloucester Triumph along the back straight and into Hawthorn. Christian Iddon then began to move forwards, getting past Billy McConnell and then closing on to the back of the leading duo.
The red flag was then brought out after a high speed crash involving Sam Warren and Luke Jones. It was to be six lap race with Kennedy on pole position. He wasn’t able to take the holeshot though as Richards rode around the outside at Paddock Hill Bend.
Kennedy then stole it back but as they went in to the last lap Richards was in front after a move on the brakes in to Paddock Hill Bend. The Mar-Train Yamaha of Kennedy payed dividends, however, as he blasted past Richards down the back straight and although Richards got a good drive out of Clearways, the Adelaide man fell two hundredths of a second short of the Dubliner.
Leaving Brands Hatch, Kennedy has a nine point advantage over Richards in the Championship.
Billy McConnell took third ahead of Christian Iddon and Ben Wilson with the reigning National Superstock 1000 Champion, Richard Cooper, ending up sixth. Finn Pauli Pekkanen was seventh ahead of Luke Mossey and eventual Cup winner James East. Irishman Nikki Coates rounded out the top ten.
