Buildbase BMW’s Ryuichi Kiyonari spent the MCE British Superbike free practice sessions familiarising himself with the Brands Hatch GP circuit. It’s the triple champ’s first time on the track with his new team and machine and he’s just grateful for the track time.
The Japanese racer finished FP2 as the fourth fastest rider out on the track, which is not too shabby for his debut on the BMW. Kiyo feels that he’s still ‘struggling’ with his lap times, but is content with his overall pace.
“I feel like I am struggling a bit with my pace, but I think that is mainly because I am new to this circuit on the BMW, as it has been the first time I have been on the GP track since I left Honda. I need more laps than anyone else as I need the experience on the track,” said Kiyo, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.
“But I am fourth fastest overall and I am happy with that, but I need to do better for qualifying tomorrow as I need another win or podium, to show the good form that I had at the last round at Knockhill. But I want to improve my pace tomorrow.”
