MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Gary Mason will revert back to his 2011-spec ZX-10R for this weekend's Brands Hatch British Superbike final to put on a good show with the full FIM-spec engine package for the last time.
Mason has been running a bike that conforms to the 2012 rules since Silverstone but he wants the power to end the year on a high and try to claim a podium at a track he loves.
“It’s important to end the season on a high for everyone and that’s not really possible on the lower spec ‘2012 rules’ bike to be honest. Back in August we were on it all the way through the weekend and we were unlucky to only score one podium. I think the new rules see an end of an era of the ‘Open’ class so it would be good to get one last big battle in, as people will remember these races them for sure," said Mason.
