Brands BSB: Max Hunt hospitalised after crash

7.30pm update: Max remained in Kings College hospital in London under observation overnight and throughout the day. His condition has now improved to the extent that he has been discharged from hospital.

BSB Series Director Stuart Higgs said: "Everyone at BSB is naturally very relieved and we wish Max a full recovery. I would also like compliment the brilliant work of the BSB marshal and medical services."

RaceLab Honda British Supersport racer Max Hunt was airlifted to hospital yesterday after a first-lap crash saw him knocked out and immediately taken to the circuit medical centre at Brands Hatch

Hunt, 28 from London sustained a head injury, he was treated immediately trackside by the BSB Medical Team before being transferred to the circuit medical centre and then by Air Ambulance to King's College Hospital London for further treatment and assessment.

A CT scan was undertaken on arrival at the hospital and the results indicate that he does not require immediate surgery and whilst his condition remains serious it is not thought to be immediately life threatening.

Of the other riders involved; Ed Smith was discharged from the medical centre with minor injuries whilst Anthony Rogers and Lee Johnston were uninjured.
