Buildbase BMW’s Ryuichi Kiyonari will start the first MCE British Superbike race of the season at the Brands Hatch Indy track in second on the grid after a determined performance during qualifying in wet conditions this afternoon.
Kiyo was the dominant force throughout all three qualifiers and was constantly inside the top three times, and appeared un-perplexed as the rain started to fall.
It was the first time the former triple champ has been out on his BMW in the rain - and with his new team, but is feeling comfortable and happy with his performance so far. Even though he had to go to parc ferme without his BMW – having crashed at the end of Q3.
“The bike felt really good in both the dry and wet today – so I am feeling good. I am not sure how I am feeling about tomorrow, as I feel I am still not fast enough on the bike, especially going the race distance,” said Kiyo at the track.
“Every lap I felt I was getting slower than the top riders. But so far the feeling with the BMW is really good, and this is my first time on the bike in the wet and it still felt good.”
