Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne could not have wished for a better start to his MCE British Superbike campaign as he came away from his home round of Brands Hatch to take the win, not once but twice on the Indy circuit.
The triple champ has hailed his weekend as ‘perfect’ and was able to hold off the charges of GBmoto Kawasaki's James Ellison and the Milwaukee Yamaha of Josh Brookes. In the final race of the day Byrne was able to take the hole-shot and didn’t look back. He now leads the championship and has a maximum total of ten podium credits to his name.
“It has been perfect today. Race two was pretty tough and I felt that I was pushing really hard. I was doing some laps in the 46 flats and that was me maxed out. My strategy was to get away and I knew that Josh Brookes would be able to get to the front. I had to do the same and that is what I did,” said Byrne.
“James Ellison also hung in there and then Josh came second and I tried not to make any mistakes and fortunately for me it all panned out. Now we go to Oulton Park for the next round and we made some small changes on the bike.
"I like the way I am able to ride the Kawasaki now and I have changed my riding style a bit for the better, but I just want to get through the weekend at Oulton - like I did here, and it should be fun.”
