MWR Kawasaki's Ed Rendell will take to the track at this weekend's Brands Hatch British Superbike round but he will only take part in practice and qualifying to ease himself back into competition.
The National Superstock 600 rider suffered serious injuries in a pre-season testing crash in Spain and only ride a bike again for the first time at Mallory Park last week but the youngster was happy with his performance and is looking forward to a full return at Cadwell Park.
"Mallory Park test day was great, It was fantastic to get out on the bike with me smiling again after months of misery. There’s still a long way to go and I need to get to grips with riding the bike and get a feel for it again but I’m surrounded by a fantastic team who will no doubt get a good setup on the bike and fill me with confidence," he said.
"Five months ago I was in a critical condition in intensive care after a crash in Spain, thinking the whole year had ended, but with friends and family willing me on and determination and a lot of hard work I’m finally back on the MWR Kawasaki and its never felt better.”
