Gearlink Kawasaki's Alastair Seeley missed out on a second Motorpoint British Supersport title in three years after a chaotic last lap at Brands Hatch. The race was declared wet despite dry conditions and when rain started to fall Seeley cautiously backed off.

This allowed both Stuart Easton and Richard Cooper to dive through and when the race was red-flagged a lap later after an incident at Paddock Hill Bend, Seeley knew his championship hopes had gone. Post-race, Seeley has confirmed he will be staying in the British Supersport Championship for next year, stating that he will be 'back to fight for it once again'.

"I had boards in the race giving me an arrow, telling me to push on if I needed to. I was surprised to see Stuart scything through the pack from that position. He put me under pressure quite early on. On the first lap I got touched going into Dingle Dell, I think Luke Jones just clipped me, I nearly ran on the grass so I was lucky that that wasn't race over for me," said an understandably downbeat Seeley to bikesportnews.com.

"I went after Richard Cooper, got to the front again, tried to control the race but once I saw the arrow I knew Stuart was closing in. I dropped down to third on that last lap when the rain started to fall which was disappointing but it is what it is.

"We fought back from the middle of the year when I had my injuries to get it down to four points for a good showdown, a good last race. Happy enough with that and I'll be back next year fighting for the Championship again."
