Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes set his own personal best ever laptime during the hour-long MCE British Superbike test session at Brands Hatch Indy today on his way to second on the timesheet.

Brookes set a 45.910 with his last lap on a rear Pirelli SC1 that had already done more than a race distance and beat his previous best by three-tenths of a second. He was only a tenth slower than fastest man Shane Byrne but feels there is still work to do.

“We made some small improvements but it felt a little worse as I was backing it in to turns, which means we’re slowing down. I need to make some time in the second sector, as that’s where we’re losing out to Byrne,” said Brookes, speaking to bikepsortnews.com.

“The final lap was done with 33 more on the tyre, which is well over race distance here, so that is a good indicator for Monday but with some more improvements, we can up our game on a new tyre and make it last too.”
