Returning MCE British Superbike star Simon Andrews was comfortable with his opening Brands Hatch test session on the Indy circuit today, setting the seventh-fastest time in the hour-long session.
Andrews, who has remained with the RAF Reserves Honda team, is only six-tenths slower than quickest man Shane Byrne and less than a second off Gregorio Lavilla’s long-standing lap record but he says there are still a few areas to work on.
“We need to just get the engine braking sorted out in one or two areas and that is where will improve but I am happy with where we are in after the first hour,” said Andrews, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.
“I’m happy to be back on the Superbike as it suits me better than the Superstock bike. The team have done a good job with the bike over the winter and in testing, so we should be able to mix it up this year.”
