Brands BSB: Tinmouth ‘surprised’ with debut Q2

TWR Honda’s Jenny Tinmouth still can’t quite believe that she made it through to Q2 in the MCE British Superbike qualifying at a very wet Brands Hatch Indy track this afternoon.

Tinmouth has never made it out of Q1 before, and was a little apprehensive when she saw the rain starting to fall heavily at the circuit. But it was her last lap in the opening qualifying session that saw her snatch the seventeenth spot on the timing screens – pushing the likes of FFX Yamaha’s Ian Hutchinson out of contention for a place in Q2. She now starts race one from row six tomorrow.

“I’m really happy – as its my first Q2 and it feels great. I was trying to be smooth and I saw loads of riders going down and I was trying to get an idea of where on the track was slippery  – as I didn’t want to crash,” said Tinmouth, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“I cant believe that I made it through and I’m surprised as I wasn’t looking forward to qualifying because the weather was so bad, but now I’m looking ahead to the races tomorrow.”

Tinmouth has been sharing a garage with the Padgetts clan and Clive and Co have been helping with her bike and working on the suspension on her Honda.

“The circuit was tricky as it was quite cold as well, but it is so easy to lose grip as it was so cold on the tyres -  but I just want to thank Clive Padgett as he has been working on my suspension for me as we are sharing a garage today. They have been brilliant and helping me out so much.”
