GBmoto Kawasaki’s Chris Walker is hoping that a mixture of crowd power and adrenalin will give him the boost he needs to fight through his niggling back injury at this weekend’s Brands Hatch MCE British Superbike finale.
The housewives’ favourite is still struggling after his crash at Assen caused more significant injuries than first thought. Silverstone saw him fighting mid-pack but the 40-something rider wants to finish this season on a high.
"We really want to end the season on a high at Brands Hatch. To be honest we had put in all the hard work to get into the Showdown and then at Assen it all went a bit wrong and it has spoilt the final rounds. The crash in race two left me with a niggly injury that ended up being worse than we had first thought and it was a struggle at Silverstone because of it but I have turned a corner with it now,” said Walker.
"Fingers crossed now that we can come out and have three strong races at Brands Hatch with the combination of the adrenalin and crowd power for that last bit where I am not completely 100 per cent. The final round being a triple-header gives us an extra chance and I am desperate to have a strong end to the season.
"I think Brands Hatch will be interesting as there are lots of guys who have come on really strong over the last few rounds and you can't discount them. For me as a rider that's exciting as the more the merrier if we are fighting for positions.
I have to say I am excited to see what the final outcome is for the championship now between Shakey and Kiyo too, we may be on track together to make the last three races count, but we all want to see who the best man is on the day."
