BSB Assen, Race 3 Results: Scott Redding pounces late for last gasp Assen win

Scott Redding scored his second British Superbike Championship victory of the weekend after leaving it late to pounce on Kyle Ryde and Leon Haslam to win the third and final race at Assen.

The Hager PBM Ducati rider benefited from a brief red flag period four laps into the original start to improve his grid position from 15th to eighth at the restart, before pushing towards the front and engaging in a fierce tussle with Ryde and Haslam.

Ryde had looked on course for a well-deserved win after leading all the way to lap 12 of 14, but after being baulked by Redding as he mounted a late dive into the Geert Timmer chicane, he'd also lose ground to Haslam.

To his credit, Haslam also used the opportunity to get past both Ryde and Redding after their slow exits from the corner, but the ex-WorldSBK rider would line-up a pass on the Moto Rapido Ducati man into Turn 1 on the final lap.

Holding firm to the chequered flag, victory for Redding marks his second of the Assen weekend - and fourth of his part-season campaign in 2025 - following his success in the rain-affected first race.

Even so, it was a day of two halves for Redding after issues with his Ducati led to him finishing down in 15th place in a damp Race 2. However, for Race 3 he was back on form, making good gains during the first start before it was halted after just four laps as rain fell again.

A quick restart in dry conditions ensued though with Ryde resuming out front, where he would remain for much of the race while chased hard by Haslam and eventually Redding.

In the closing stages though Redding would prove too strong for the pair, leaving Haslam and Ryde to settle for the remaining podium spots.

Despite missing out on the win, third completes a solid weekend for the Nitrous Competitions Racing rider having played it safe en route to a sixth and eighth in the wet first and second races.

With Bradley Ray finishing down in sixth place behind Tommy Bridewell and Storm Stacey, the gap between the two has risen from 28 to 31 points with two rounds remaining.

Behind Ray - who worked his tyres too hard to bridge the gap to the leaders following a bad start - Charlie Nesbitt completed a strong set of results with seventh, ahead of Rory Skinner, while Fraser Rogers and Glenn Irwin rounded out the top ten.

Of the remaining points' finishers, Max Cook was 11th, with Danny Kent 12th, Lee Jackson 13th, John McPhee 14th and Josh Brookes 15th.
